It warmed my heart to see Clark playing again and in such good spirits. He is an inspiration to me as a trumpet player and as a human being because of his beautiful spirit. I had the opportunity to meet him about three years ago at the Sweet and Hot Jazz Festival in LA and for the short time we talked I got a quick glimpse of how great this man is. God bless you Mumbles! (I'm still working on wiggling my left ear :)

Clark Terry is to Jazz what Cal Ripken Jr. is to Baseball! (Iron Man). Still going strong still teaching, still speaking the Jazz Language, He is a Piece of Work! What a wonderful American Treasure. His wife has to be an Angel Sent from God. Who else would be willing to share such a person with the rest of the world. Way to go Mrs. Terry!

What a complete gas it is to see and hear you playing again, Clark. All the best for even better days ahead from a longtime fan in Alaska.

About This Video

Clark Terry performs on his world famous fluegelhorn for the first time in over a year on May 14, 2009! He successfully recovered during a 6-week stint at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, following the scare of almost having one of his playing fingers amputated. CT mellifluously played his gratitude to the JRMC staff, with Gwen Terry by his side, Joe Cripps on Bass, and Milt Jackson on Guitar. (Filmed and edited by Harbor City TV, LLC, 870-850-6100)
